An IAF helicopter carrying India’s top military officer Gen Bipin Rawat, along with his wife and other staff members crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The chopper, carrying 14 people, took off from the Air Force station in Sulur, Coimbatore and was headed to Wellington Defence Services Staff college where the CDS Bipin Rawat was due to deliver a lecture. The latest report suggests that 13 people are dead, the identities of whom will be confirmed by DNA. Gen Bipin Rawat’s condition is not known yet.
Meanwhile, Bollywood celebrities are praying for his speedy recovering and mourning the sad demise of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Actor Vivek Oberoi wrote on Twitter, “Horrible news about the helicopter crashing in Tamil Nadu. My deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the crash. May God give their family the strength to deal with this immeasurable loss. Wishing CDS General Bipin Rawat ji a speedy recovery.”
